Fixed in the sky, wings beating, the kite scans the grassland for movement. Then it locks its wings and descends straight down. The vole only sees a stationary shadow, gradually growing -- until it is too late.

I watched this kite hunt the Frog Pond, rest, hunt again. Then... success!! The kite carried the vole off to find a nearby treetop, to rest and eat at leisure.
