Out early, I see the morning mist dissipate from the lowlands around mistletoe-covered valley oaks. Two newts cross my path, far apart. Shooting stars bloom in the grasslands: hard to see from a distance, wonderful from close up. Birds, butterfly, serpentine, and oaks round out the morning.
