On a midday walk around the lake, a pair of hooded mergansers swam by. The rains have finally started, and the world is getting ready for spring. (We did see some dirca in various stages of flowering, even some leaves.) The old valley oak at the Visitors' Parking Lot soldiers on, still sheltering a variety of birds and I am sure others, acorn woodpeckers prominent.
