Valley Oak "Phainopepla Tree" Before Sunrise

Valley Oak "Phainopepla Tree" Before Sunrise

I set up a tripod viewing one of my favorite valley oaks, in the pale dawn light. Still air, no wind. A whiff of fog rests over the hills in the dawn cool. The "Phainopepla Tree" is named after a rare bird (for Jasper Ridge), seen here in past years, feeding on the mistletoe. 6:54 am. 30 sec at f/8, ISO 100. 30 seconds and no wind moves the grasses.
