We hiked into High Lake the day before the eclipse. (Thanks for the guidance, Jay!) The lake shore was full of people; many came out for the eclipse. Jason pointed out a tiny white speck on a volcanic peak above the lake. On closer inspection through my zoom lens -- a mountain goat!? It is hard for me to tell given the distance and quality of the photos: is this a mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) or a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis canadensis)? Jay, I don't know if either or both can be found in this area; they are both hunted in eastern Oregon. Please leave a comment if you know the ID!
