Three Oak Species

Three Oak Species

Serpentine grassland, then solitary valley oak (Quercus lobata) with a hard-to-see toyon. On the hill beyond, blue oaks (Q. douglasii) on the left, coast live oaks (Q. agrifolia) on the right and the crest. they are hard to tell apart at this time of year. Another favorite view on the Birding Transect Trail.
