"Phainopepla Tree"

"Phainopepla Tree"

This valley oak (Quercus lobata) sits on a rise on Road F. It has many more leaves of oak mistletoe (Phoradendron serotinum ssp. tomentosum) than its own. I saw a phainopepla bird, rare for this area, here in past years, feasting on the mistletoe; this introduced me to the birding group. No phainopepla for several years.
