Three Oaks' View
From this vantage point, we see a valley oak (Quercus lobata) in the foreground, decorated with a red-berried toyon bush (Heteromeles arbutifolia), with mistletoe hanging from its top branch. The leaves look green, at least, alive. On the hill in the distance are forests of two kinds of oaks: on the left, leafless blue oaks (Q. douglasii); on the right, green coast live oaks (Q. agrifolia). Serpentine rocks and grassland are in the foreground. 9:14 am, on the way around the special birding transect trail.
