"Lower Valley Oak"

"Lower Valley Oak"

In a hollow along Road F sits this valley oak (Quercus lobata) -- covered in oak mistletoe (Phoradendron serotinum ssp. Tomentosum (P. villosum)). This tree has many leaves. The next tree along, across Road F at the edge of the chaparral, is the "chaparral valley oak". It is covered in leaves, and has no mistletoe. In the distance stands the "lonely valley oak", near Trail 15. Different types of chaparral are on the right and on the left of Road F. Poison oak (Toxicodendron diversilobum) is starting to grow up the trunk of the foreground tree. Compare to an earlier view taken a few days ago.
