The moist forest and chaparral trails (9 & 11) had a profusion of spring wildflowers: Fremont's star lily, man-root, gooseberry, ceanothus, & dirca. Fresh new leaves from buckeye, dirca, and poison oak. Buckeye seeds and shoots. A coastal range newt crawled across the trail. A spider lurked in some grass. A bee-fly visited the ceanothus blossoms. And I saw some strange scat, with scrapes.
