I go early for the monthly bird transect -- soon after dawn. A deer and fawn browse in the chaparral. The grass is turning from green to brown, leaving lines and patterns across the grassland. The lovely valley oaks, with their green leaves this time, continue to fascinate and attract me -- I love them! There are two other galleries of photos from today. Birds -- close by this one. And flowers and insects -- with the other macros in "Adventures on a Smaller Scale".
