Oaks at dawn. Moonset. Birds in the early morning.

There was an eclipse of the moon the morning of December 10. I was too late to catch a good photo, but the dawn from Escobar Gate was wonderful. So I returned three days later at dawn, to cover some of the same ground and watch the moon set. December 19 was the Christmas Bird Count, and I again visited from Escobar Gate, this time with the birders on the special transect route.

All three of these visits are combined here. I thought it best to order the images by location, and within location, by time of day. Thus, we see several dawns over the lonely valley oak at the center of the ridge, near Road F and Trail 15.
