Taken an hour and a half later, at 8:18 am. This bee (?) has just spent the night in this position, in suspended animation, riding out the cold and damp. It is covered in dewdrops -- and pollen. Over the course of the next hour, it thawed up and moved away. Chaparral Mallow (Malacothamnus fasciculatus) (?)
