Ornate Checkered Beetle (Trichodes ornatus) on Blossoms of Holly-leaved Cherry (Prunus ilicifolia)

Stu Koretz writes: "...The yellow and black patterned beetle in image 38 looks like an ornate checkered beetle (Trichodes ornatus).

"These are in the Cleridae family, many species of which like to hang out on flowers, eating other insects and also pollen.

On blossoms of holly-leaved cherry (Prunus ilicifolia). Note the hairs! These beetles have a tarsal formula of 5-5-5: on each of the front, middle, and hind legs there are 5 tarsomeres (individual subsegments of the feet=tarsi), though these may be hard to distinguish. Looking hard at this image, this is certainly not ruled out. I agree with Stu.
