Buteo Hawk -- probably Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo Hawk -- probably Red-shouldered Hawk

This hawk flew low from a tree near us and landed well down in the crown of a bare Valley Oak, next to Mistletoe. Road C near the intersection with Road D. Charlie Quinn says, "Dan - based on looks alone, I'd say it is a young red-tailed hawk, but the behavior sounds like a red-shouldered. But definitely a Buteo (not an Accipiter), and one of the two."
