Mural 4: Refugees
Starting on the bottom right, clockwise to the top: They live under tarps in the refugee camps. The Guatemalan Peace Accords are signed December 28, 1996, and the people celebrate. The United Nations arranges for funds to purchase land in Guatemala to resettle there, out of the refugee camps. Since their old community land is occupied by others, they decide to buy a coffee plantation on the slopes of Volcano Fuego, closer to Guatemala City. A caravan of busses and trucks takes them to their new home.
