A tradition at the May Lake High Sierra Camp is to go up to the ridge after dinner, to watch the color slowly drain from the spectacular view, and look for alpenglow and/or spectacular sunsets. We complied. We were there over full moon -- but we never saw it rise from the horizon, only noticing it once it was high in the sky. Clouds near the horizon??
