Serpenting Grassland on Jasper Ridge

Serpenting Grassland on Jasper Ridge

A closer view. Chaparral and oaks border the bare ridgetop, which is serpentine and non-serpentine grassland. Actually, I am not sure about the two parallel road tracks near the top -- my best guess is, the left one is Road F and the right one, Trail 17 to Goya Gate -- but this does not feel right (??) Road F runs through the middle of the grassland, from Escobar and Goya Gates near the top, past the Phainopepla Tree, Trail 15, the lonely valley oak, and Trail 9. The bird transect trail is along the left side (SW) of the grassland, starting at Trail 15. A close look shows very many trails through the grassland -- wildlife?
