Independence Lake is off Hwy 89, north of Truckee, in the northern Sierra. It has also been protected by the Northern Sierra Partnership <>. Native Cutthroat Trout breed in the lake; the NSP is working to enhance the possibility that they can thrive. Elliott Wright and the Nature Conservancy invited Judy Kramer and me to an NSP BBQ In July 2012. Nice lake, nice party. For other views from the same trip, check out Judy Kramer's <>.
