We arrived a day early, and walked the High Line down the east side of New York, from the Hudson Yards to the Meatpacking District and back. On the Thursday before Friday's Halloween, many costume parties were beginning: Halloween is too good an excuse to dress up, to restrict to only one party evening. People were friendly.
