We went ashore on a dry windswept plateau at the western end of Santa Cruz Island, toward Santa Rosa Island. On the beach were washed-up engines, tidewrack, colonized by sea creatures. Forney Cove is home to many pelicans, terns, and gulls -- actively hunting in the morning.
