We kept bumping into these pigeons, from near Escobar Gate almost to the end of the serpentine grasslands and Trail 3. Were they following us, or we them? Probably just a convergence of different goals: we were on our monthly birding transect out of Escobar Gate, and the flock of pigeons was out looking for food here. A flock of 25 (at least) spent some time in and around some bushes near the outcropping of serpentine rocks near the far point on the transect. Were they eating acorns from the coast live oak, coffeeberries, or something on the ground amidst the tarweed?
