Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, between Christmas 2010 and New Year's Day. Two kinds of images: the lake, surrounded by volcanoes, and people in the villages -- mostly in the stores & markets. San Marcos, where we stayed, is at the west end of the lake. Going counterclockwise: San Juan and San Pedro, reachable by small boat; a longer boat ride is needed to Santiago Atitlan, a larger town. The boat goes the other way around the lake from San Marcos to Panajachel, where our road ends and we take the boat in and out of the lake. Solola is above Pana.
Other images from Lake Atitlan are in the gallery "Getting Around".
