Morning Sunlight on Oaks and Toyon
A Toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia), bedecked in red berries and green leaves, stands beneath a spreading Valley Oak (Quercus lobata), generously bedecked with mistletoe. On the ridge beyond, the bare twisting branches of Blue Oaks (Q. douglasii) mix with the darker-green canopies of Coast Live Oaks (Q. agrifolia var. agrifolia). A cross rules the far summit, above DeAnza College. Fog lies beyond. Serpentine rocks rest in the foreground grassland. Pale sunlight washes over the scene.
