Lone Valley Oak (Quercus lobata)

Lone Valley Oak (Quercus lobata)

Grey clouds occasionally allow cool sunlight to bring the view to life. This lone tree has seen a lot in its two centuries. Now it rules over the grassland along Road F, near the intersection with Trail 15. Mistletoe has occasionally found a foothold in its higer branches, only to disappear in subsequent years. This view is from the Birding Transect Trail, looking toward a foggy Skyline. Jasper Ridge, 10/26/2021, 8:43 am.
