Two creatures meet on a darkening trail at dusk. A young buck moving down the trail encounters a photographer walking quietly upwards. Both stop and take in the presence of the other. The buck seems curious -- watching carefully, gingerly approaching for a better look, pausing, scanning the surroundings, then approaching a little more. The photographer stands still, camera raised, his camera quietly clicking -- does the sound arouse the deer's curiosity? After a final long gaze, the deer turns and walks down the hill off the trail -- deciding not to continue along his usual evening route. The photographer exhales.
