This was an exciting day for watching birds -- and the "Phainopepla Tree" was a particularly fruitful location. Here a White-breasted Nuthatch shares the tree with the hybrid Sapsucker. See the nearby gallery "Other Birds" for more birds seen here while we watched.

This dead tree is always worth careful inspection. In July this year, we saw two juvenile White-tailed Kites here, with an adult, showing off their flying skills.
