This might be a Valley Oak (Quercus lobata). It is bedecked with Lace Lichen (Ramalina menziesii) and surrounded with Coyote Brush (Baccharis pilularis) and an expanding forest. This side of fog-obscured Skyline, a flock of Mallard Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) heads for Searsville Lake, or what's left of it.
