Searsville Lake through the Trees

Searsville Lake through the Trees

Fog obscures the distant view, bringing the closer oaks into relief. Do you notice the white bird in the lake, through the trees, near the center? Coast Live Oaks (Quercus agrifolia var. agrifolia) support Poison Oak and Lace Lichen. We are fortunate at Jasper Ridge, to be in the overlapping ranges of the Coast Live Oak (coastal foothills west of the central valleys) and the Valley Oak (guess). We also feature Blue Oaks (predominant in the Sierra Foothills) and even Black Oaks (check out the floor of Yosemite Valley). Trail 21, Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. 9/4/2021, 9:08 am.
