After our wonderful adventures around Vernal Falls, loath to pass on the wonderful light suffusing the fresh snow, I drop Helen in our room and return to roam the Valley. I soon find myself at a bridge over the Merced River with a nice view of Half Dome, reflected in the water's mirror. Other photographers join me here, many with tripods and a businesslike manner. I understand: this *is* a great spot, great view, great time with the evening light on Half Dome, fresh snow all around. And many photographers visit the Valley. I spend a half hour there, capturing a sequence as light leaves Half Dome. Yes! I even cross over the bridge to look in the other direction; everywhere you look, the Valley is special. The next morning Helen and I savor the view in the crystal-cold morning light.
