Autumn, though December. The real rainy season is not here yet -- will it come this year? A short walk in the gathering dusk, peaceful autumn. Birds settle down.
This reminds me -- Goethe said it better:
Über allen Gipfeln
Ist Ruh,
In allen Wipfeln
Spürest du
Kaum einen Hauch;
Die Vögelein schweigen im Walde.
Warte nur, balde
Ruhest du auch.
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
In all the mountains,
Stillness;
In the treetops
Not a breath of wind.
The birds are silent in the woods.
Just wait: soon enough
You will be quiet too.
~ Robert Hass, “After Goethe” from Time and Materials.
Thanks, Philippe!
(My apologies. The poem is too profound to use to decorate these few snapshots. One can find a more fitting occasion...)
