Juvenile Hutton's Vireo (V. huttoni)

Juvenile Hutton's Vireo (V. huttoni)

Sophie Christel: "I think that's another Hutton's Vireo. Even a juvie yellow-rump would have the eye ring noticeable on adults, as well as a more clearly defined pale throat patch, at least a little streaking on the breast, and yellow on the flanks just under the wings (would be visible given the pose in this photo). The beak also just looks too robust to be a warbler, and if you look closely, you can make out a little "mask" around the eye that extends to the bill, like in the previous Hutton's photo." Charlie Quinn: "I concur with Sophie – she’s good! Probably a young HUVI, given the plumage and posture." I had asked: "Is this a juvenile yellow-rumped warbler (Setophaga coronata)?" Trail 15, with the previous two birds, near the black oak.
