Spring is really here -- the hound's tongue is blooming!

From the JR main gate, more spring views as January dissolves. Flowers: Indian warrior (we do need a better name!), dirca, blue witch, and the legendary hound's tongue. Birds: a flock of hooded mergansers in breeding plumage; junos playing around; a northern flicker taking off; and several more, even a pair of white-tailed kites. Leaves bursting forth; buckeye taking root. Evidence of a deer's (two deer?) unhappy encounter with a predator. Water over the dam.

What happened to winter?

Check out a nearby folder for evidence of January springtime from the other side of Jasper Ridge, out of Escobar Gate.
