Dewdrops on Butterfly Wing
The wing is hydrophobic, and the dewdrops maintain their separate spherical identities as they cling to the place where they condensed in the heavy fog. Such a beautiful delicate wing -- and such a special decoration! Acmon blue butterfly (Plebejus acmon), covered in dew. This butterfly did not fly as I took many photos; perhaps it had to wait to dry off after spending the night in the open? It did move about on the thistle flower. In the grassland near Trail 3 and Road F: ant survey point WL760. 9/17/2016, 9:22:57 am, just before the fog lifted from the ridge.
