Rattlesnake Rock from SLAC Boundary
A wide variety of trees on the sandstone outcrop, past the level grassland -- including coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii -- not a true fir), California Bay (Umbellularia californica), and Valley Oak (Quercus lobata) covered in lace lichen (Ramalina menziesii). Note the red-tailed hawk nest in the dead Douglas fir at upper left. The sandstone outcrop of Rattlesnake Rock is on the horizon at 2 o'clock on the hump. Skyline in the distance on the right.
