Carpenter ants start off slow, but speed up as the day heats up.

As the title says, these images were NOT taken at Jasper Ridge, but in the wilderness area of Portola Valley Ranch. I live in PVR, 4 miles south of Jasper Ridge along the San Andreas Fault. It shares similar ant species.
